For years, Multnomah County has tried—and failed—to tackle the homelessness crisis.
And Shannon Singleton has been at the center of many of those efforts.
Shannon Singleton headed up the Joint Office of Homeless Services. However, under her leadership, the homeless population in our County continued to climb.
In fact, the Joint Office of Homeless Services was found to have mismanaged funds, overpaid vendors, and housed veterans in squalid conditions. Worst of all, during Singleton’s tenure as Director, the Joint Office of Homeless Services couldn’t accurately calculate the number of people it successfully housed.
That’s right—after millions of taxpayer dollars poured into different programs to address homelessness, Singleton’s office couldn’t provide the County’s Auditor with a verifiable number of people they moved into stable housing.
We need a different approach. That’s why we need to reject Shannon Singleton for County Commission.
